Seminar on SMS e-Monitoring System at Press Club Nowshera

Youth Catalyst-Pakistan (YCP) has been implementing the project of Pakistan Rotary Polio Resource Centre (PRPRC) in district Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since August 2013 and e-Monitoring through Cellphone Project since July 2015 funded by Pakistan National PolioPlus Committee (PNPPC), Rotary International.

Overall objective of e-Monitoring through Cellphone Project is to strengthen monitoring and supervision mechanism (tracking) to provide support to the staff working at public health facilities, health workers at community level and health facility managers as well as district health management. With a goal of collecting accurate data collection from the field on daily basis and to ensure computerized analysis of the received data the pilot project has been initiated in district Nowshera in close collaboration with Youth Catalyst-Pakistan, an implementing partner of PNPPC Rotary International for the project of Pakistan Rotary Polio Resource Centre Nowshera and District Health Department Nowshera-KP.

YCP has registered around 54 Health Workers from 4 High Risk Union Councils of District Nowshera and most of them have initiated reporting MNCH and EPI related data right from the field. The innovative use of technology has yet so far proved as cost effective, easy to use and with better value of money, Rtn. Tayyaba Gul Chief Operating Officer YCP and Asher Ali Project Manager Rotary International shared this during a Seminar on SMS e-Monitoring System at Press Club Nowshera on September 2, 2015.

The said seminar was well participated by District Health Officer Dr. Arshad, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Hameed Khan, Maulana Mufti Shoukat, Rtn. Mian Shoukat Masood,  Rtn. Tayyaba Gul Chief Operating Officer YCP, Asher Ali Project Manager Rotary International, DSM PPHI, Coordinator National Program, District Nutrition Coordinator, Lady Health Supervisors and Lady Health Workers and press representatives.

District Health Officer and Assistant Commissioner applauded the ongoing initiatives supported by Rotary International and implemented by YCP in district Nowshera and urged the need to upscale to other areas and union councils of the district to maximize the outreach to the intended beneficiaries.

During the said event, Cell Phones were distributed among the registered Health Workers and shields were presented to the best performers among them in appreciation of their constant support and dedication.
